The Karnes County Residential Center recognizes Resident Advisor George Garcia for performing life saving techniques on a 2-year-old female child resident who was choking on a slice of apple in the dining hall.
Mr. Garcia quickly took control and proceeded to perform life saving techniques to dislodge the apple. Garcia was successful at saving the child from choking. The child was taken to medical where medical determined the child was in good health. It was because of Mr. Garcia and his quick response that the child was unharmed.
Facility Program Director, Rose Thompson awarded Mr. Garcia with a spot award and commended him for his quick response and ability to remain calm and take control in a crisis situation.
