In 1998, The GEO Group, Inc. (GEO) was selected to design, build, finance and manage a new facility in Del Rio, Texas. The Val Verde Correctional Facility provides correctional services on behalf of the U.S. Marhsals Service.
Medical care, food service, laundry and general living conditions for offenders are provided in accordance with standards required by the State of Texas and federal guidelines.
The facility features expanded kitchen areas, laundry and support services space.
The existing County Jail is certified by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. The facility achieved accreditation by the American Correctional Association (ACA) in 2013 and re-accreditation in 2016 with a score of 100%.
