The facility is comprised of a 444,622 sq. ft. correctional facility campus. It was originally built in 1998 as a state correctional facility for the Georgia Department of Corrections. The facility is immediately adjacent to the neighboring Folkston ICE Processing Center but maintains its own secure perimeter and independent operations.
Under a previous contract, the facility achieved initial accreditation through the American Correctional Association in 2013 and re-accreditation in 2016 with a score of 100%. The facility was also accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), under a previous contract, in 2012 and was re-accredited in 2015.
