This year marks a significant milestone as the Mesa Verde ICE Processing Center (Mesa Verde IPC) enters its seventh consecutive year of its "Adopt-a-Block" partnership with Discovery Church. Together, they continue their mission to provide essential support and holiday joy to less fortunate children and families in the local community. While the annual toy drive is a highlight, the partnership goes far beyond the holiday season. Mesa Verde IPC has formally "adopted" a specific block of local children, committing to a series of seasonal drives throughout 2026:
Back-to-School Drives: Equipping students with the tools they need for academic success, including backpacks and school supplies. Last year, Mesa Verde IPC donated $1,500 for school supplies and provided 38 new backpacks.
7th Annual Toy Drive: Collecting new toys to ensure every child in the adopted block experiences the magic of the holiday season. Last year, Mesa Verde IPC staff shopped for 38 children.
The Adopt-a-Block initiative is managed through the Discovery Dream Center of Discover Church. The Dream Center's mission is to connect with the community by offering free resources and services that address immediate and long-term needs in areas such as poverty, addiction, and abuse, as well as providing mentorship for kids and youth. The Dream Center serves as a resource center focused on finding solutions to homelessness, hunger, and lack of education through outreach programs. The services offered by the Dream Center include food assistance services, housing assistance, adopt-a-block outreach, street teams, recovery support, and youth mentoring.
