During my recent visit to The GEO Group's Continuum of Care Headquarters, I had the privilege to see firsthand the profound impact of their intentional alignment between operational programming and accountability in supporting individuals reentering society from incarceration.
I toured the Post Release Call Center, which is a 24/7 service to assist individuals transitioning from incarceration. This underscored the philosophy that reentry does not conclude at the point of release from a correctional facility, but rather begins a new chapter filled with challenges and opportunities.
Notable to me, was the fact that a significant portion of the staff working in the call center that day were individuals who have successfully navigated their own reentry journey. This commitment to being a second-chance employer is not merely a policy; it was a reflection of their values and operational strategy.
Models like I saw at GEO foster a supportive environment where individuals can thrive and contribute positively back to their communities, not just reinforcing a belief, but proving in practice, well-structured reentry works.
