The GEO Group Imperial County Day Reporting Center participated in the 7th Annual Adult Summit, along with Imperial County Community Connection Partners and customers, which included the Imperial County Probation Department, Sheriff's Office, District Attorney, Public Defenders, Imperial County Courts, Behavioral Health, and many others.
The Imperial County Sheriff Department assisted in providing the Color Guard for the opening ceremony. At the start of the ceremony, Imperial County Chief, Dan Prince spoke about how the event provided resources to attendees in their community. Mr. Prince then thanked the community for providing resources and participants for using those resources. The Courts representative, Honorable Judge Nunez thanked the community for being able to help reintegrate participants into the community and providing resources to make it accessible for the participants. Judge Nunez gave praised to the Evidence Base programs and reintegration services.
The guest speaker, Artie Gonzalez actor and motivational speaker who spoke of his previous convictions and turmoil’s and how he overcame his downfall and addiction to help motivate current probationers to better pursue a prosocial lifestyle and become positive member of the community.
The GEO Group participants received a raffle ticket after they were required to go around and listen to the Imperial County Community Connection Partner booths. When at the community booth, the participants were required to request an item, engage in the topic, and receive a signature. Once all completed, the participants would turn in the form with a completed signature and receive a raffle ticket. The raffle ticket was entered into a drawing that was internal in which some of the items received were water bottles, bags, and bicycles.
The GEO Group staff participated by catering the event to nearly 500 people which it required meticulous planning, coordination, and execution to ensure all guest were satisfied. The GEO Group also conducted referrals for Imperial County Community Connection Partners. When engaging with other Imperial County Community Connection Partners, the GEO Group would give a brief description of the services we provided and how the GEO Group connects to the community resources.
